I recently received an email from a friend of mine. The content of the email is irrelevant, except for the signature:

Whatever happened to the old tradition of not having a sig longer than four lines? Can't they realize a synergistic communication of their core competencies while using less strategic resources?

Problem: Shorten signature down to 4 lines. Committee's Solution: New maximum line-length standard of 200 characters.
